Michelle Arnett, MS, RDH & Danna R. Paulson, MSDH, RDH, CCRP
Michelle Arnett currently serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Primary Dental Care, Division of Dental Hygiene at the University of Minnesota (UMN) School of Dentistry (SOD). She has 21 years of clinical practice experience and 10 years in academics and research at the University of Michigan SOD and the UMN SOD. Her areas of research focus are motivational interviewing and periodontology. In addition to research on dental hygiene burnout, stress, and cultivating a positive work environment. Michelle Arnett has taught Communications, Periodontology, and the Dental Hygiene Care Process: Clinical Application III and IV in the UMN SOD undergraduate program and Instructional Strategies, Thesis I and II, and Capstone I-IV in the graduate UMN DH program. Her professional memberships include Sigma Phi Alpha-Nu Chapter, American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA), and the American Dental Education Association (ADEA).
Danna Paulson is originally from Toronto, Canada, where she earned her degree in Dental Hygiene. She has practiced in various settings, including general, pediatric, and orthodontic dentistry, in both Canada and the Cayman Islands. Seeking further academic advancement, Danna moved from the Caribbean to Minnesota to pursue a Master of Science in Dental Hygiene through the University of Minnesota and the Carlson School of Management. Upon completing her master’s degree, Danna was appointed as a Clinical Assistant Professor and Researcher at the University of Minnesota. In 2024, she transitioned to a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor role in the Department of Primary Dental Care. Her research primarily focuses on dental-patient reported outcomes, particularly measuring oral health-related quality of life. Danna is actively involved in teaching dental hygiene and dental therapy students at both the bachelor's and master's levels. She is a member of the Society of Clinical Research Associates (SOCRA), American Dental Hygienists' Association (ADHA) and the American Dental Education Association (ADEA).
