1 CE | Available On-Demand Now

Descriptions: Dental hygiene is a demanding profession that requires both precision and endurance—but too often, clinicians' health and longevity are left out of the equation. This interactive, practical session empowers hygienists to take control of their physical and mental well-being through small, sustainable shifts that make a significant impact. Participants will learn evidence-based movement strategies to reduce pain and tension, mindset tools to prevent burnout, and self-care practices to restore balance and energy—both in and out of the operatory. Through simple demonstrations and real-world discussion, attendees will leave with a personalized plan to protect their bodies, nurture their minds, and build a thriving, sustainable career in dentistry.

Objectives:

  • Identify common postural habits and workplace stressors that contribute to physical pain and mental fatigue in clinical practice.

  • Apply simple, chairside movement techniques and microbreaks to reduce musculoskeletal strain and improve daily comfort.

  • Integrate evidence-based mindset and self-care strategies to foster resilience, prevent burnout, and enhance long-term career satisfaction.

Caitlin Parsons, RDH, C-IAYT, CEAS

Caitlin Parsons is a dental hygienist of 17 years who knows firsthand what it’s like to feel the toll of clinical practice — she began experiencing pain just one year into her career. What started as discomfort became a turning point, leading her to explore yoga therapy, body mechanics, and eventually, a new way of practicing and living. Today, Caitlin is a Certified Yoga Therapist and nationally recognized Ergonomics and Wellness Consultant for dental professionals and teams. She blends her clinical experience with expertise in movement, injury prevention, and stress management to help dental professionals prevent pain, protect their careers, and feel better — both inside and outside the operatory. Caitlin is here to offer more than education — she’s here to shift the way we care for ourselves in dentistry.
