Descriptions: This interactive session will guide participants through real-world periodontal cases to calibrate and clarify common areas of confusion in diagnosis and treatment planning. Designed around the 2017 American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) Classification of Periodontal Diseases, this course offers hands-on practice applying the system to everyday clinical scenarios. Together, we’ll explore practical strategies for using the updated classifications in both documentation and patient care.

Objectives:

  • Review the key components of the 2017 AAP Classification System for Periodontal Diseases, including staging, grading, and extent.
  • Practice applying the 2017 AAP Guidelines to real-world clinical cases to accurately classify periodontitis.
  • Identify the clinical metrics needed to determine stage, grade, and extent during collaborative case calibration.
  • Work through case scenarios to develop individualized and accurate treatment plans based on classification findings.
  • Discuss common challenges in applying the new guidelines in practice and explore peer-driven solutions.
  • Identify patient management strategies that support the delivery of evidence-based periodontal care and improved outcomes.

However, previously viewed courses or other services through Clinicians Platform will not be assessable. For monthly memberships canceled before one year, $100 fee will be applied. Members who wish to cancel their annual membership prior to their predetermined annual end date will not receive a refund.
